The Bad Guys Aaron Blabey Scholastic ★★★

The Bad Guys is a great combination of cartoon style with a small amount of easyto-read text and line illustrations.

Before I started reading this book I looked at the interesting pictures on the cover. I turned the book over to look at the back and there was one thing that grabbed my attention. The word “TAKEN” in big green writing.

Aaron Blabey (above) has made a name for himself with his original picture books. I loved how he has put together a variety of animals to create a group of super heroes. One by one the loveable characters get taken by a green alien with big red eyes and lots of teeth and something different with his hands.

I started reading this with an open mind as to whether it would be any good.

I liked this book because it had its own style and was more like a comic.

As I started to read it I realised it was for younger children, aged 7-10.

I believe the author was trying to get across a great message of friendship.

Always believe your friends will do something amazing for you.

So, for example, when the three friends are in trouble the knowledgeable snake comes and rescues them.

I enjoyed this book even though I believe it was not for my age group.

I would rate The Bad Guys three out of five stars.
