Mundine caught driving without licence on Coast
FORMER boxer and NRL star Anthony Mundine is facing losing his licence for at least six months after being caught driving without a licence in Southport.
Mundine did not appear in Southport Magistrates Court for the short court appearance where lawyer Michael Gaten- by, of Gatenby’s Lawyers, urged the court to downgrade the charges.
Mundine faces one charge of driving without of a licence after he was stopped by police on Cotlew St just before 2pm on November 2.
It is understood Mundine had his licence suspended for three months after accumulating demerit points by speeding.
“We have made submissions to the police removing the circumstance of aggravation which is driving while demerit point suspended,” Mr Gatenby said. “We are hopeful of a resolution.”
Mr Gatenby is requesting the charges to downgraded to unlicensed driving. He said Mundine was not aware his licence had been suspended.
The matter was adjourned until January 22.
