Coast trio earn 18s rep spots

-

THREE Gold Coasters have won places in a South Queensland side after a dominating performance in the under-18 McPherson Shield.

Fast bowler Kane Hurley (Coomera-Hope Island) and all-rounders Jared Neuhaus (Palm Beach-Currumbin) and Nathan Janes (Burleigh) will now go into battle against North Queensland for the state country title in matches to be played in Mackay on Australia Day.

The Coast representation could have been stronger had leading runs scorer Eli Fahey (Broadbeach-Robina) not been required for duties with The Southport School.

Fahey scored 139 from 140 deliveries in the Thunder’s win over South East Queensland in one of two games played at Tansey Park in Loganholme.

It was the first time that Gold Coast’s name has appeared on the McPherson Shield.
