Wife drives success on the course for Coaster

-

A LITTLE help from his wife could present Sanctuary Cove golfer Steven Jones with a real Christmas confidence boost heading into 2018.

Jones this week shared victory in the Wynnum Pro-Am alongside Sydney’s Troy Moses after the pair’s weatherinterrupted round of 7-under par 63.

In a field including Ian Baker–Finch, Mikko Ilonen, Rod Pampling, Jason Norris and Damien Jordan, Jones’ win in the richest one-day tournament on the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am schedule (prizemoney of $60,000) could prove telling.

Jones’ round included seven birdies – and a helping hand from a special someone.

“I started the round birdie, eagle, birdie which gave me a lot of confidence,” he said.

“I also was lucky to have Kate my wife on the bag; Kate always keeps me really grounded.

“I’ve been working really hard on my game in preparation for qualifying school this week in Melbourne.

“It’s a real bonus to win (at Wynnum) and the money will really be useful with Christmas just around the corner.”

Jones and Moses were fortunate to have the early start.
