Super saver sub meters

GOLD Coast City Council is undertaking a pilot study of new water sub meters, following a petition supported by thousands of locals who only want to pay for the water they use.

Fair Water Meters has launched the new sub meters after lobbying against water meter laws. The devices mean people in older apartment buildings can have an individual sub meter retrofitted in their apartment, rather than the current split bill system.

Fair Water Meters’ joint founder and director Mary Terblanche said research shows the devices result in a water usage drop of 20 to 30 per cent.
