Feeder club raid shock

THE Gold Coast Titans last month announced renewed deals for their long-standing Queensland Cup feeder clubs – but not before a rival NRL club tried to swoop.

The Bulletin can reveal Burleigh were targeted late in the piece by a Sydney side wanting to associate themselves with the 2016 Queensland Cup premiers. It comes as Penrith aligned themselves with the Central Queensland Capras in recent months. The Bears, as well as derby rival Tweed Heads, were eventually locked in to continue partnerships with the Titans after protracted negotiations.
