Toddler critical after being pulled from pool

A ONE-YEAR-OLD girl is fighting for her life after a near drowning incident on the Gold Coast yesterday.

The little girl was pulled from a backyard pool in Mudgeeraba and CPR was performed before she was taken to hospital.

Last night the toddler was listed as being in a critical condition at Gold Coast University Hospital.

Emergency services were called to the property about 3.40pm to reports the child was non-responsive.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman told the Gold Coast Bulletin she was suffering from hypothermia due to a lack of oxygen.

Three QAS crews attended the scene but police were not required.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the toddler was in a “very” serious condition.
