Cobby to stay in jail
A 55-YEAR-OLD man charged with brutally killing his wife on a Worongary street last month will spend Christmas in prison.
Andrew John Cobby made a brief appearance in Southport Magistrates Court yesterday.
He is charged with murdering his estranged wife Kym Cobby, 51. She was found dead by the side of the road at Arthur Payne Crt late on Sunday, November 12.
Cobby appeared via video link from prison and was represented by a duty lawyer.
The police prosecutor said given the nature of the case it should be adjourned to Court 4 at Southport which hears domestic violence matters. Magistrate Mark Howden agreed.
The case was adjourned to February 2 next year.
