PROGRESS FOR FRIZELLE AS ARUNDEL SITE TAKES SHAPE

- ALISTER THOMSON

CONSTRUCTION of stage one of the $20 million Frizelle Sunshine Automotive Arundel dealership has finished with work due to end by February next year.

Stage one is home to Isuzu trucks and Isuzu utes, while stage two will house Volkswagen Commercial and stage three used vehicle sales.

Work is being carried out on a 4.4ha three-title property fronting Kingston and Newheath drives that was bought by Frizelle (Wholesale) for $16.36 million in 2014.

The four concrete tilt panel buildings included in the $20 million job contain 11,000sq m of floor space.

Condev Construction managing director Steve Marais said working with one of the country’s premier automotive brands at such a highly visible site was a boon for his company.

“Frizelle Sunshine Automotive is a Gold Coast-based organisation, and it is always good to see local companies working together to deliver outstanding projects,” Mr Marais said. “It has been a pleasure working with the Frizelle group and we look forward to delivering the completed project in early 2018.”

It has been a busy year for the James Frizelle’s Automotive Group, which in July announced a partnership with the Peter Warren Automotive Group to create Frizelle Sunshine Automotive.

The deal, which has the backing of Quadrant Private Equity, combined two major automotive retailing groups with the potential to generate more than $1.5 billion in annual revenues.

The group also earlier this year bought a 2948sq m showroom property at 74-80 High St from a company held by former Gold Coast BMW dealer Bruce Lynton.

James Frizelle began three decades ago, sells more than 15,000 cars a year and made a $12.6 million profit last year.
