ATMs deny dim crooks

POLICE are investigating after a botched ATM robbery at a Pimpama shopping centre early Sunday morning.

Gold Coast officers and firefighters were called to the Dixon Dve complex about 4am yesterday where they found a small fire burning underneath an automatic teller machine outside a bank.

The fire was put out quickly and no one was injured.

Police say several ATMs in the complex were targeted but the would-be thieves did not get away with any cash.

No one has been arrested or charged over the incident.
