Court date for Tweed bike riders

-

TWO people riding pushbikes allegedly under the influence of drugs have been caught by police on the same street within hours of each other, south of the border.

Tweed Heads police on Friday charged a 24-year-old woman with being in possession of stolen property and a prohibited drug after she was seen on Kennedy Dve riding a suspected stolen bicycle without a helmet.

She was spotted about noon, allegedly carrying a quantity of ice.

Two hours later, on the same street, a 40-year-old man who is known to police was seen riding a bike.

Police believed he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

When searched, the intoxicated man was found with a phone police say had been stolen from a person in Queensland a few days earlier.

Both “bikies” will appear in Tweed Heads Local Court on January 8.
