Sharks add more weapons
SOUTHPORT Sharks coach Steve Daniel has continued his recruitment drive, adding two former AFL players and another from the VFL to his list.
The Sharks have signed former Brisbane Lions player Josh Clayton, former Collingwood rookie Michael Manteit and Bendigo VFL player Rhys Clark for the 2018 season.
“We are extremely pleased that players of this calibre are wanting to play for the club,” Daniel said.
“We are certainly heading in the right direction.”
It comes days after the club narrowly missed out on securing the services of former North Melbourne captain Andrew Swallow, who has signed for rival NEAFL club Aspley.
Clayton will slot into Southport’s midfield after spending the past three seasons at the Lions, where he played two AFL games.
Manteit spent one season at Collingwood after being drafted by the club with pick eight at the 2014 rookie draft. Clark has played the last four seasons with Kyabram in the Goulburn Valley Football League.
