Police calm upset man

POLICE managed to talk down a man threatening to hurt himself with a firearm at a Gold Coast park.

At 11.45pm on Tuesday, police were called to reports of a disturbance at Damian Leeding Memorial Park, Watersport Lane in Oxenford.

An emergency situation under the Public Safety and Preservation Act was declared before officers were able to calm the man without incident.
