Surf spots set after strong day

-

ALL of the semi-finalists have now been selected after yesterday’s action at Coolum Beach on day four of the Rip Curl GromSearch.

An increase in swell overnight saw competitors greeted with pumping conditions for day four, with huge scores in the quarters setting the scene for today’s finals in six ages.

The under-16 girls saw the top seeds again dominating, with 2016 national champion Sasha Baker (Mudjimba, QLD) beating Amuro Tsuzuki (Kanagawa, Japan) and Phoebe Kane (Palm Beach).

The under-16 boys’ division also saw some really close exchanges between some of the biggest names currently in junior surfing.

Jay Brown (Lilli Pilli, NSW) was the standout with two eight point rides, claiming the day’s highest combo score.
