Brennan pleading an all local mantra
THE Titans will not let another Darius Boyd slip through their fingers under coach Garth Brennan’s plans to tackle the Broncos juggernaut.
A new era is expected to dawn at the Titans today when Rebecca Frizelle and Darryl Kelly’s consortium assumes ownership of the club.
NRL chief Todd Greenberg was planning to fly into the Gold Coast today to announce the change in ownership following the game’s near three years in control.
The ownership clarity will give the Titans certainty around their budgets and strategy and Brennan wants to invest heavily in ensuring the region’s top prospects do not leave the Gold Coast.
Boyd, a Test and Queensland Origin star, was nurtured on the Gold Coast before the Titans were founded but Brennan is determined to ensure players of his quality play for their home town.
“We need some more resources around our development programs,” Brennan said.
“I know that’s what Darryl and Bec’s vision is, to be a development club.
“It’s such a big area with the schools and junior leagues.
“To do that we need people out there educating those kids in the schools and local communities to be coached the Titans way.
“You look at the amount of Gold Coast products that are out there (playing for other clubs) like Darius Boyd.
“There are plenty out there that have slipped through our hands before.
“We’ve got to make sure they get the love from us and realise there is an opportunity here for them.”
Brennan has made an effort to stack his squad with Gold Coast products.
The Titans of 2018 will include the highest number of local products since the club’s entry into the NRL in 2007, welcoming back the likes of Jai Arrow, Michael Gordon and Brendan Elliot.

Coast’s top 30 from the region.
With their superior development system, the Broncos have traditionally cherrypicked the best Gold Coast juniors over the years, but that is something Brennan wants to change.
“My vision is to see the Gold Coast locals come back to play for their home town,” he said.
“It’s a way of getting the community to feel like they own the team when they’ve got family and friends playing for the Titans.
“I feel that’s the best way to get the community to connect with their football team.”
Brennan will take the Titans to Toowoomba next week for a five-day pre-season camp. of the Gold players hail
