THE ocean’s most magical creatures have arrived at Sea World as part of a new show called Sirens of the Sea.

The city is a hotspot for film and TV productions featuring the mythical creatures, with the likes of H20 Just Add Water, Mako Mermaids and Aquamarine all shooting on the Gold Coast over the past decade.

Some productions even filmed at Sea World, however these school holidays mark the first time members of the public can see the hybrid creatures at the Main Beach theme park

Village Roadshow Theme Parks head of entertainment, Michael Croaker said the show would mesmerise crowds of children and adults alike.

“The majestic underwater world of mermaids comes alive daily at Sea World with the Sirens of the Sea show, where guests can watch in wonderment as the mermaids put on a magical display at Shark Bay,” he said.

“Guests will learn about the mythology and ancient tales of mermaids. The mermaids will be dancing in the water among marine life including fish, ray and shark species with guests having the opportunity to enjoy from above the water as well as from the underwater viewing platform.”

Young girls dressed as the mythical creatures – tail and all – will share the water with a range of fish in the Tropical Reef Lagoon at Shark Bay.

The Sirens of the Sea show will be appearing at Shark Bay for five shows daily until Monday, January 15.
