Coast gets beach-ready

-

GOLD Coast beaches have been beautified with an almost $20m investment in time for the Commonwealth Games.

With more sand, more surfing space, seawall construction to defend against erosion, dredging works and more lifeguards on patrol than ever before, Mayor Tom Tate said the beaches would “shine”. “The extra spend was to make sure safety on our beaches really shines,” he said. “There will be 1.5 million people viewing our city during the Games and one image we want is, ‘Wow, look at those beaches, we’ve got to come and check them out’.

“We’ve never seen the Coast look better and I’m looking forward to showing them off.”
