Probation for attack on guard

A WOMAN who hit a medical centre security guard in the face has been sentenced to one year probation.

Joanne Maree Jackson, 27, pleaded guilty in Southport Magistrates Court yesterday to assaulting the security guard at the Palm Beach Community Health Centre on May 30.

The court heard Jackson become irritated during an appointment and when a security guard went to escort her off the premises, she struck him in the face so hard the guard’s glasses broke.

Magistrate Andrew Sinclair sentenced Jackson to 12 months probation and ordered she pay $672.40 to fix the man’s glasses and $350 in compensation.

He ordered no conviction be recorded to allow Jackson to continue to study nursing.
