Teen right on the pace

GOLD Coast teenager Liam Thompson has taken a leap towards his dream of racing in the British Touring Car Championship.

The 17-year-old recently tested a Toyota Avensis touring car at the famed Brands Hatch circuit in England.

Thompson hopes to secure a seat in support category the Volkswagen Racing Cup with a view to progressing to the BTCC in the near future and relished the test opportunity.

“The car felt great. It was fast, it had lots of grip and it sounded great,” Thompson said.
