Gym fights dementia
PHYSICAL fitness may help fight dementia – as those who are active show fewer signs of memory loss.
A study suggests it is never too late to benefit from exercise, even after being diagnosed with the disease.
When 70 pensioners were tested on memory and thinking skills, those with dementia who had better balance, strength and general fitness got better scores.
Researchers led by University College London suggest this is because physical activity helps stimulate blood circulation in parts of the brain.
