TATTOO ARTIST HELPS CANCER SURVIVORS FEEL WHOLE

- KRISTY MUIR

COSMETIC tattoo artist Brittany Rogash is helping breast cancer survivors feel whole again.

The Gold Coast woman has branched out from traditional permanent makeup procedures to 3D areola cosmetic tattooing.

Since Brittany completed her postgraduate course in October, women have been lining up at her Inkhanced business for “new” and “realistic” nipples.

This is after they have undergone invasive surgery to remove one or both of their breasts.

“I am incredibly proud of the women who have battled and survived breast cancer,” Brittany said. “It’s great these ladies can be complete again with this procedure.”

Brittany said the 3D areola cosmetic tattooing procedure was an “emotional journey” both for herself and her clients.

“They look at themselves and they cry (with happiness),” she said.

“It is so rewarding.” One of Brittany’s clients, who only wanted to be known as Kay, said she felt complete again after her cosmetic procedure.

“I’ve been put back together again,” she said.

“It’s the final piece of the puzzle.”

Kay, who was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago and had a double mastectomy, said it was “nice to look in the mirror and see a whole breast”.

“I didn’t do it for vanity and I am surely not going to be a topless waitress – it is for me personally. It is to get back what I once had.”

The procedure costs $400 and is not covered by insurance or Medicare.
