COPS PROBE DJ DEATH
HOMICIDE police are investigating the death of DJ Chris Bradley at a party at Byron Bay on Christmas Day.
Mr Bradley’s sister Maddie yesterday paid tribute to her big brother, a regular at Gold Coast nightclubs. “My heart’s so broken to hear this news today,” she said. “Who could do such a horrible thing to such an amazing man? You lit up the room with your unique quirk personality and laugh, I’ll miss hearing it.”
THE homicide squad has joined the investigation into the death of Byron Bay DJ Chris Bradley after he collapsed and died at a house party on Christmas Day.
Mystery surrounds the circumstances of Mr Bradley’s death which is now the subject of a criminal investigation by the NSW Crime Command Homicide Squad and Tweed-Byron detectives.
Mr Bradley’s sister Maddie Bradley yesterday paid tribute to her big brother in a heartfelt post on Facebook.
“Chris was in a horrible incident last night and wasn’t able to be revived,” she said.
“My heart’s so broken to hear this news today. To say the words I’ve lost my big brother, it’s gut wrenching.”
Emergency services were called to a property in Carlyle St, Byron Bay, about 11.30pm on Monday after reports a 28year-old man had collapsed at a Christmas gathering.
Paramedics attempted to resuscitate Mr Bradley but he died on the floor of the house soon after they arrived.
Detective Inspector Brendon Cullen said police were interviewing witnesses but refused to say whether Mr Bradley had been assaulted.
Ms Bradley, who lives in Sydney, took to Facebook to remember her brother as “an amazing man” who lit up the room with his “quirky personality and laugh”.
She said she was “so glad” she got to celebrate an early Christmas with him.
“Who could do such a horrible thing to such an amazing man? You lit up the room with your unique quirk personality and laugh, I’ll miss hearing it,” she said.
A DJ and owner of events and artist management company Atypical, Mr Bradley moved to Byron from Sydney eight years ago and studied audio engineering at the SAE Institute Byron Bay.
A regular behind the decks spinning house, electro, hip hop, RnB and rap at venues including the Great Northern Hotel and La La Land in Byron and Elsewhere and Aloha Bar on the Gold Coast, Mr Bradley performed a DJ set at new venue RYCE, in Byron, on Friday night.
Elsewhere co-owner Simone Jenkins said his depth of musical knowledge was unrivalled on the local scene.
“His death will be a huge shock to many. He was all about the music,” she said.
“He was a very talented and very good music producer and was very supportive of the whole scene.”
On Facebook, neighbour Matt Leedham said Mr Bradley was “a true gentleman, full of character and always with a big smile on his face” .
“I can’t believe it. It’s beyond hideous,” he said.
Ms Bradley said the family was finalising funeral arrangements.
