Charges as boy, 7, left in vehicle
TWO people have been charged after a seven-year-old boy was allegedly left unattended in a car at Brunswick Heads on Wednesday.
The same child was found to have bruising on his body when he was rescued by police after being spotted in a parked car outside the Brunswick Heads Post Office, police say.
Tweed Byron Local Area Command Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Brendon Cullen, yesterday said a 43year-old man and a 45-yearold woman had been arrested and charged over the incident.
The man was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault and intimidation. Both were charged with leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle without proper supervision. The intimidation charge relates to alleged threatening language and conduct against the woman.
The pair were granted conditional bail and will appear in Byron Bay Local Court on January 11.
