mansion owned by former Billabong executive Scott Perrin.

The record residential sale for the Gold Coast still stands at $27m. It was chalked up in 2008 when BreakFree founder Tony Smith sold an uncompleted mansion in Hedges Ave to later-failed internet whiz Daniel Tzvetkoff.

Also trading hands for $16.5m this year was the Mermaid Beach mansion owned by Melbourne Cup-winning owner and real estate identity David Henderson.

The Albatross Ave property first hit the market in 2016 with a $19.75m price tag.

It was designed by architect Paul Uhlmann and spans across three beachfront blocks giving it a commanding street presence.

While the 30m of beach frontage is one of its best assets, the mansion also comes with a lift, basement for seven cars, sauna, cocktail bar and a gym.

“It was listed for $19.75m last year but as soon as we adjusted the price to $16.995m we had a frenzy of buyers and they were all qualified buyers with genuine offers,” agent Luke Henderson said. It sold in August.

Monaco St at Broadbeach Waters was also touted as a millionaire’s playground with two sales around $9m.
