Suspects smoked out

-

TWO Gold Coast teenagers spent the New Year in custody after they were allegedly caught buying cigarettes with someone else’s bank card.

Jayden Welsh and Matthew Harvey, both 18, did not enter a plea when they faced Southport Magistrates Court yesterday morning charged with fraud.

Both teenagers claim a third person gave them the card and asked they to buy cigarettes.

The court heard neither man was aware the card was stolen.

Magistrate Gary granted Harvey bail.

However, he ordered Welsh remain in custody due to his “appalling” criminal history.

The matters will return to court on January 16. Finger
