Pedestrian hit by car
A PEDESTRIAN has become Queensland’s first road fatality of 2018 after she was struck by a car south of Brisbane.
The woman died after she was hit at an intersection when stepping out of a vehicle in Logan Village at 1.45am yesterday. The driver was uninjured.
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old woman is fighting for her life after the car she was travelling in hit another vehicle just after midnight in Brisbane.
Acting Deputy Commissioner Michael Keaton warned many road accidents were preventable, particularly when people took “unnecessary risk” like speeding or drink driving.
“Please enjoy the New Year, have a great 2018 and be courteous, safe and respectful on the roads,” he said.
