Neser weighs in to review debate
Last season, Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch, two highly influential players in the short version of the game, said the review system was not necessary in the Big Bash.
Renegades’ Finch repeated those thoughts last week after an umpiring decision proved extremely costly in the loss to Perth.
While the Heat will rue the Lynn decision, they were outplayed for much of the night by a Strikers outfit Neser backs to have a massive role in deciding the competition.
Neser’s late run spree enabled the Strikers to finish with 7/147, and they restricted the Heat to just 91. Neser got the valuable wicket of Brendon McCullum for just 15.
“I knew 120 was not going to cut it for us so I went out as hard as I could,” Neser said. “Anything over 140 runs was going to be a competitive total on that wicket.
“I was very nervous with him (McCallum) out there because of how much experience he has and the damage he can do. That was a crucial wicket, we were a bit on edge with him out there.” The next assignment for the Strikers, unbeaten after three games, is against the Hurricanes in Hobart on Thursday.
“We have three wins under the belt and will take them on,” Neser said. “It will be a tough challenge over there.”
Aside from the controversy, Neser again rubber-stamped his bid for higher honours.
