THE ‘rumbos’ flowed as a few hundred señoritas got ready to rumba at the Ladies Day Fiesta at the Gold Coast Turf Club on Saturday.

The Latin Americaninspired party was one of the first events kicking off the 2018 Magic Millions.

Robina sisters Amy, 21, and Nicola Walsh, 23, brought mum Kathy along for her birthday. “We just love racing, I wish I rode horses, I think we got into it because we’d always watch the races with mum and dad,” Amy said, before her mum Kathy jumped in to say 2015 Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Michelle Payne followed Amy on social media.

As Cuba libres were served with mojito-infused chicken, love birds Jack Bredhauer, 27 and Hayley Coburn, 25, said they had travelled form Chillagoe in far north Queensland.

“We came down to visit family and check out the races,” said Ms Coburn, showing off a fascinator made by Sonlia Fashion in Mareeba.
