Readers were grateful to learn just how much care and compassion goes into looking after loved ones when they pass in our story about one of the Gold Coast’s busiest crematoriums — Allambe Memorial Park at Nerang.

Sharon Robinson: What a wonderful insight to a special service. Thank you - it is peace of mind to know. I want to be cremated but don’t want a coffin as such just prefer cardboard box.

Steph Kiss: “I’ve had a coffin that’s had messages written all over it from family and I’ll tap the coffin and say ‘you’re a lucky girl to have had so much love.” On the 23rd of November we had my beautiful sister Emily Kiss send off at Allambe and we all wrote on her coffin. I pray that this was her coffin and that you were the last person to tell her how loved she is.

Lyndall Anderson: Fantastic read. I work in aged care and I am there when they pass away, they then get taken away by the funeral directors. I have always wanted to see what happens after they leave our care.

Gloria Mccaughan: Wonderful insight into the next step. I just hope that when it’s my time I will be passing through this kind man’s rooms.

Joanne Frawley: My Godmother was cremated here and we held the service here. It is a lovely place, very professional and most of all respectful to the deceased and the families. Thank you for the insight, it means a lot.
