Lakers, Bogut parting ways

ANDREW Bogut has departed the imploding Los Angeles Lakers in search of another NBA title.

The Lakers announced they had waived Bogut after the 33-year-old centre asked to leave the team.

The timing was critical because Bogut’s one-year, $US2.3 million ($2.9m) contract was just one day from becoming fully guaranteed, letting the Lakers off the hook financially. “We’re gonna miss him,” said Lakers coach Luke Walton, who praised Bogut’s veteran leadership.
