Two Marsh is never enough

- BEN HORNE

IF the Waugh twins ever shook hands out in the middle it was considered a public display of affection.

But Shaun and Mitchell Marsh’s celebration of brotherly love at the SCG yesterday was the fitting way to cap off an extraordinary summer of dual redemption.

The Marsh boys are eight years apart but were inseparable yesterday as they piled on a stand of 169 – the biggest by Australian brothers since the Waughs at The Oval in 2001

When Shaun (156) slapped a four in the first over of the day to pass 100 for the second time this series, Mitchell raised both arms as if the ton was his.

Later in the session, when it was Mitchell’s (101) turn, Shaun couldn’t even wait for the ball to be dead to embrace mid-pitch and had to be pushed down the other end to avoid a calamitous run-out.

“It’s pretty hard to explain (the emotion). To watch Shaun hit that cover drive and then embrace in the middle for his hundred (was great),” Mitchell said.
