Looking back, Magic Millions managing director Vin Cox says a successful pitch to handle the sale of a wealthy Sri Lankan’s breeding stock in 2014 was key. “That was the turning point for Magic Millions. That sale told the world we can do the best.” The Tealy Assets Dispersal Sale, which he says was one of the best auctions held in the world, built international credibility for the January sales now attended by many bigshot foreign buyers. Despite Magic Millions’ major competitor offering to host it “for nothing”, Mr Cox said “we held our mark and it went extremely well”.
