Driven to distraction

-

ONE motorist every 30 seconds on the Sydney Harbour Bridge has been caught using their mobile phone by a new hi-tech camera, exposing the disregard for safety on one of the nation’s busiest roads.

A survey conducted by One Task recorded 743 drivers using their phone during a sixhour test across three lanes of traffic on the eight-lane bridge on December 12 last year.

One Task took the results to NSW Roads Minister Melinda Pavey and is planning talks with federal Transport Minister Barnaby Joyce’s staff.

It comes after a horror holiday period in NSW in which 29 people died between December 15 and January 2.
