Stern talk for phone penis pics

-

A GOLD Coast teenager who sent unwanted pictures of his genitalia to a 13-year-old girl’s phone has been lectured by a magistrate about taking explicit photos.

Bailey Pinnell, 17, pleaded guilty in Southport Magistrates Court yesterday to using a carriage service to menace and harass after the pictures were found on the girl’s phone.

Magistrate Gary Finger gave Pinnell a stern talking to in his sentencing and said Pinnell should not send pictures of his penis to anyone.

“It doesn’t matter if someone is 13 or 63, you can’t put these things on a phone and send them,” he said.

“You should not even be taking these pictures on a phone. I don’t know what people achieve at all. I really don’t.”

The court heard the pair had not met when Pinnell sent the explicit photos.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Natalie Gorman said the victim had lost her phone near Southport High School in August last year.

Sgt Gorman said Pinnell found the phone two days later but before returning it, he decided to send four images to the phone.

Defence lawyer Lani Olafsson, of Legal Aid, said Pinnell had been battling a number of mental health issues, including anxiety and a mild case of Tourette syndrome, during his teenage years.

Pinnell was sentenced to a two-year, $1000 good behaviour bond which included 18 months probation. No conviction was recorded.
