Teen sets ski record
TEENAGE Melbourne adventurer Jade Hameister has become the youngest person to ski unaided across Antarctica’s barren, icy wasteland to the South Pole.
The 16-year-old schoolgirl arrived at the Amundsen-Scott US research station to complete her 37-day, 600km expedition yesterday morning.
“Here’s to a hot shower and some real food,” shewrote in an Instagram post.
As part of the historic trek that mapped a new route, the all-Australian team of five faced extreme winds and temperatures verging on minus 50C.
