FILM STAR KRUMM AMONG CHARITY CASES THAT MAY SOON BE HOMELESS

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND

HE’S a rising film star and the face of a renowned disabled animal charity, but Krumm the dachshund could soon be homeless.

Krumm is one of the animal stars of Aussie comedy Swinging Safari which was filmed on the Gold Coast.

In the film, which opens on Thursday, Krumm plays Doody, the family pet of the Hall Family (led by Kylie Minogue and Guy Pearce).

But the plucky pooch and his owner, Storybook Farm Sacred Animal Garden’s founder Lisa-Jayne Cameron could be forced to close their doors if they don’t find another property for their myriad of special-needs animals.

Ms Cameron said the lease was now up at their Canungra acreage and they needed to find a new, suitable property for 40-odd animals.

“The farm we’re on is going up for development so the search is on for another property,” she said, adding she’d like the option to buy.

Ms Cameron said it was important their new home was set on at least 30 acres and was set up for horses, goats, chickens and other pets. She said the farm played an important role, having inspired people to look at options other than euthanasia for those animals who were disabled or had special needs.

Ms Cameron said it had been a tough couple of months.

Krumm had been recently sick and had racked up a staggering $20,000 vet bill after having seizures and a reaction to antibiotics.

“And I broke my tailbone,” she said. “We’re just having a really challenging time.”

Ms Cameron said it didn’t matter where the property was located, as long as they were close to an airport.
