Star site’s casino link

THE owner of the former Star of the Sea site overlooking the Broadwater in Southport is believed to have been taking ‘soundings’ on the possibility of the land being used for a casino.

It appears the group hasn’t got the answer it was hoping for and has been told the 1.61ha site is too small.

An arm of China’s Huixin Real Estate Group has invested $33.86 million in the holding and quietly has been chasing a development partner.
