Gordon calls music to Brennan’s ears

- CONNOR O’BRIEN @obrien_GCB

THE talk Michael Gordon brings has been hailed as a “massive” boost to the Gold Coast’s NRL squad.

Coach Garth Brennan pushed his players hard in their first full week back at preseason training and throughout, Gordon’s voice could be heard loud and clear.

During game simulationtype drills, it was the 34-yearold who above all was barking orders to get the defensive line correctly set.

It’s the kind of communication from fullback that could prove pivotal to tightening up the Titans’ poor defensive record from last year.

“Yeah, it’s massive,” Brennan said of Gordon’s talk.

“That’s part of the reason the attraction was to get Micky Gordon back here.

“One, that he was a Gold Coast junior and a young guy coming home but two, his experience, professionalism and the way he conducts himself on and off the field was paramount to what we are trying to do here at the Gold Coast Titans.”

Gordon has played 225 NRL matches since debuting for Penrith in 2006.

He has gained experience at Cronulla, Parramatta and the Roosters last year.

Gordon, who played one State of Origin game on a wing for NSW in 2010, signed with the Titans in December on a two-year deal.
