new intersection at Bermuda-Salerno streets is a scandalous waste of millions of dollars. This new so-called CFI intersection allowing northbound traffic on Bermuda St (also referred to as Southport-Burleigh Rd and Bundall Rd in the advertisement) to make a right turn into Salerno St is the brainchild of someone needing a brain transplant.

CFI stands for “Continuous Flow Intersection” and in the expensive two-page advertisement taken out in the Bulletin we were told that “your right turn doesn’t interrupt southbound lanes on Bundall Rd” (or was that Southport-Burleigh Rd?), but states further on, “when the right arrow turns green, continue through the intersection into two separate right turning lanes”.

But this action will take you across the southbound lanes! HELLO ... what happened to the continuous flow?

Millions of dollars worth of expensive canalfront properties have been resumed to create part of this

madness when the same result could have been achieved by arranging a simple two-road intersection. A calamitous side effect is the poor unfortunate owners of canalfront properties at the end Rapallo Ave are now exposed to not previously experienced continuous traffic noise from Southport-Burleigh Rd - or was that Bermuda St? OMG! PETER BUTLER, SOUTHPORT
