A GOLD Coast man who allegedly groped a local mother on the bottom before telling her: “Sorry, I just had to do it. You have the best arse” has been arrested.

The 40-year-old was taken into custody when he surrendered to police at Southport station last night.

Police are expected to charge the man over the incident after CCTV vision was released showing the man touching Jesse Ratu’s buttock several times as she tried to enter her apart- ment complex in Southport on Sunday morning.

Ms Ratu, 24, said the man told her: “Sorry, I just had to do it. You have the best arse”.

The woman had returned from a jog at 7.30am that morning when the man followed her to the foyer area of her Norman St apartment complex.

As she was punching in numbers to buzz herself into the lobby, the man reached out and groped her bum by patting it five times.

Ms Ratu said she turned around and told him not to touch her.

She then fled to her apartment and called police.

Her partner, Brendan Wilson, tried to find the man but was unsuccessful.

Yesterday Ms Ratu said she was still not walking down the street alone and confessed she was thinking of leaving the area because of the incident.
