-

TIME is running out for emerging filmmakers eager to share their 10-minute masterpieces with audiences at SIPFest, Australia’s only short film festival on the beach.

Part of the wider Gold Coast Film Festival program, this year’s SIPFest – the Shorts in Paradise Festival – finalist films will screen for free on the Surfers Paradise beachfront on Sunday, April 22.

Entries for the annual showcase of some of Australia’s best short films – from comedy to drama, documentaries, mockumentaries, thrillers and animation – close on February 4.

“SIPFest has cemented itself on the national short film circuit as a festival which not only offers significant prizes for emerging Australian filmmakers, but also offers the audience an incredibly unique viewing opportunity,” Gold Coast Film Festival director Lucy Fischer said.

This year’s SIPFest prize pool includes $3000 for best film and $1000 for the runnerup, a $1000 people’s choice award, $1000 for best screenplay, $500 each for best actor and best actress, $500 for the best film by a Gold Coast resident and $500 for the best film showcasing Surfers Paradise.
