Four in running as Seagulls prepare to name CEO

- CONNOR O’BRIEN @obrien_GCB

TWEED Heads Seagulls players and staff should next week know the identity of their new boss.

The Queensland Cup rugby league club is in the final stages of their search for a successor to Scott Clark, who finished up just before Christmas to focus on his family’s business interests after 14 months at the helm at Piggabeen.

After an application process and initial interview period, it is understood the Seagulls will conduct their final round of interviews on Friday with the ambition of having a chief executive installed as soon as possible.

Four candidates remain in the running.

Tweed have long faced a resource battle against cashedup rivals such as Redcliffe, with that disparity translating on to the field.

The Seagulls only narrowly avoided the wooden spoon last season, 10 years after winning the state league premiership in 2007.

They will begin their first Queensland Cup campaign under their new coach Ben Woolf on March 11 against the Norths Devils.
