Swank ‘mancaves’ sold out
THE “mancave” trend continues to gather steam with the sellout of a Gaven complex completed by Brisbane-based developer Property Solutions Group.
All eight units in the tiltpanel concrete complex at The Workstores, at lot 36, 61 Newheath Drive, have sold for a combined total of $1.65 million plus GST.
Pitched as a high-end version of the typical backyard shed or “man cave”, the 75sq m units offer 5.4m high electric roller doors, three-phase power, and water and power connections.
The complex also features a CCTV security surveillance system, communal wash bay, and automatic gate access to the site.
Seven of the units sold for $205,000 while one unit, which features mezzanine space, fetched $215,000.
Marketing agent Steve Macgregor, of Ray White Industrial Gold Coast, said the units were popular with tradies looking for extra storage and retirees who had downsized and needed a place to keep their motorhomes.
“These are attractive to a broad range of buyers and because of the quality construction, they also offer value for money,” he said.
Mr Macgregor said he expected the “mancave” trend to continue on the Coast this year.
“We’re working on a few sites for the Property Solutions guys now.”
The property at 61 Newheath Drive was developed by Westlink Place – a company associated with Property Solutions Group directors Kevin Miller and David Blanck – which bought the 1.34ha block for $6.269 million in 2007.
It then subdivided the land into three lots.
A 5156sq m block featuring a purpose-built sports arena, lot 35, sold for close to $5 million while a 6304sq m block at lot 37 sold for more than $2 million.
