Rescue on mountain

-

A WOMAN has been winched to safety after hurting an ankle while climbing Mt Warning.

The 40-year-old was found on a walking track about 10.50am yesterday before paramedics assessed her and a Westpac Rescue helicopter rescued her. She was taken to the Murwillumbah District Hospital in a stable condition.

Westpac Rescue media liaison Lismore Roger Fry said the woman had run up the mountain as part of an exercise regimen. “They’re not sure if it’s ligament damage or a fracture,” he said.
