AFL star’s credit scam
A FORMER AFL player has been spared jail after pleading guilty to using stolen credit card details at a Melbourne brothel.
Ex-Melbourne and Fremantle midfielder Colin Sylvia used the details, which he copied from a customer when working at a Renault dealership, to transfer more than $4000 into an online betting account.
Sylvia, 32, was sentenced to a community-based corrections order yesterday.
His father Craig gave evidence, saying his son had ”got himself into a dark place” following his AFL career and a relationship breakdown.
