Tyrrell mum fronts court
THE birth mother of William Tyrrell will be sentenced next week after admitting to spitting and swearing at police.
Karlie Tyrrell was in a Ryde shopping mall on December 22 last year when she began acting aggressively towards other customers, police said yesterday. When police arrived, 29year-old Tyrrell swore at the officers and then spat in one of their faces.
She was arrested, taken to Ryde police station and charged with assaulting an officer in the execution of their duty and using offensive language in a public place. A selfrepresented Tyrrell faced court in Burwood yesterday and pleaded guilty to both charges.
The incident comes after a tumultuous few weeks for William’s parents, with his birth father Brendan Collins arrested last week over a larceny offence.
William was abducted from his foster grandmother’s house in 2014. There is no suggestion any member of his foster or biological family had anything to do with his disappearance.
