- SUZANNE SIMONOT suzanne.simonot@news.com.au

COULD 2018 be the year funky funsters Electrik Lemonade trump the likes of Hanlon Brothers, Hussy Hicks and Amy Shark to be crowned the Gold Coast’s favourite live act? Funk yeah.

Renowned for energetic shows loaded with feel-good fizz and super sax, Electrik Lemonade are one of several acts favoured to make the finals of this year’s fourth annual Gold Coast Music Awards (GCMA) on Surfers Paradise beach on May 3.

Nominations for the awards’ eight categories close on March 2, with finalists to be announced on March 29.

Electrik Lemonade, who play Seaside Sounds at Kirra on February 4, have been sharing their coolade with audiences since 2010.

Frontman Barney Trub said the group had seen it all in 2017, clocking up almost 50 shows from the snowy peaks of Perisher to the Top End and everywhere in-between.

“We are so grateful to have such a supportive following who really dig what we do,” he said.
