NERANG HIP-HOP KREW HOPING TO REIGN SUPREME

- HANNAH SBEGHEN

SUPREME Krew are living up to their name after dancing their way to the ICU World Cheerleading Championships in the US.

The Nerang group won the state and national titles to earn their place as Australia’s representative in the hip-hop category at the April showdown in Florida.

Ebony Reti and her sister Shalar are among two of the dancers in the group of 24.

“It’s a big group but we’ve been dancing together for the past five years and I would say we are all like family now,” Ebony, 17, said.

“Who would’ve known that this little studio would take us all the way to the US. It feels like our own version of the Commonwealth Games. I think our team were totally blown away when we won nationals so this is a whole new level.”

The proud directors of Hyfidelity Dance in Nerang, Sian Hull and Stacy Marlow, hailed the group’s success.

“It’s an incredible bunch of talent we have on the Gold Coast and I’m glad we are showing it to the world,” Ms Marlow said.

“The pride I have in my team is beyond words. Their dedication, perseverance, and commitment over the last 12 months has been beyond amazing,” Ms Hull said.
