TEEN FINDS VOICE AT MASTERCLASS
SOME of Australia’s greatest operatic voices have taken a Gold Coast teen under their wing.
All Saints Anglican School student Maddie Stephens, 17, spent the last week of her school holidays in Sydney in an Opera Australia masterclass.
Maddie was one of four young singers selected for the money-can’t-buy experience as part of the 2018 Opera Australia Regional Student Scholarship program.
Maddie capped the week off with a live performance for an audience that included Opera Australia artistic director Lyndon Terracini. Mr Terracini said the company was looking forward to following Maddie’s development in 2018.
“There is an enormous amount of talent in this country,” he said. “It is important for us to nurture and support these talented individuals with their journey into the music industry.”
