Bergen back on the beat

CANDICE Bergen is returning to TV in a revival of sitcom Murphy Brown.

CBS said it had ordered 13 episodes of the show, which starred Bergen, now 71, as a hard-charging TV journalist, for 2018-19.

Diane English, who created the series, which won 18 Emmys, is back as writer and executive producer.

CBS said: “As its 30th anniversary approaches, Murphy Brown returns to a world of cable news, social media, fake news and a very different political and cultural climate.”
